LEED Standards

Crossville, Inc. continually monitors Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

standards to ensure our sustainable products and practices meet or exceed requirements set by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The following resources and documents will assist you in learning more about Crossville’s sustainable tile products and how they can contribute to LEED certification for your green design and construction project.

Recycled Content and Regional Materials

At Crossville, sustainability is at the heart of all that we do. Our products contain recycled content that is a mix of material from our own manufacturing processes, previously fired tile, and post-manufactured waste from other sources.

Crossville can also contribute to the new LEED V4/4.1 regional credit multiplier. This credit provides products sourced (extracted, manufactured and purchased) within 100 miles (160 km) of the project site to be valued at twice their base contributing cost, up to a maximum of 200% of cost. This applies to the EPD, Sourcing of raw materials, and material ingredients credits.  If a project is within 100 miles of Crossville's Tennessee-based factory - zip code 38555 - your project may qualify for this increased contribution.

As part of our contribution to LEED V4 & V4.1 projects, we ask that you use Crossville's other applicable resources, including EPD's, HPD's, Declare Labels, Green Squared, and more found listed below.

LCA, EPDs, HPDs, and Declare Labels

The latest LEED V4 standards call for increased building and finishing product transparency through Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). Together, these two tools help standardize sustainability reporting across industries, and make the process of choosing eco-responsible products simpler, smarter and more transparent.

Crossville adheres to LEED V4 Standards for LCA- and EPD-driven product transparency by providing this reporting on all of our sustainable tile products and solutions.

About LCAs & EPDs
LCAs study the impact of a product on the environment from sourcing through manufacture, distribution, use, removal/disposal and renewal (through recycling or other means). EPDs are individual product summaries, similar to nutrition labels on foods, that present a snapshot of key information gained from LCAs to allow designers and architects to clearly evaluate the sustainability of a particular product over its entire life cycle.

About HPDs & Declare Labels
The Health Product Declaration (HPD) is a report that gives consistent reporting on product contents and health information for products used in a built environment. The Declare Label ensures that there are no red list ingredients in our products. Red list ingredients are those considered hazardous by the International Living Future Institute.
